Download Free Word/PDF Template: Customs Clearance Authorization for Car Import in Mota Del Cuervo
Importing a vehicle into Spain from a non-EU country involves complex bureaucratic procedures, and clearing it through customs (despacho de aduanas) is one of the most critical steps. A Customs Clearance Authorization for Car Import (Modelo de Autorización para el Despacho de Aduanas) is a legally binding document that explicitly grants a licensed customs agent, freight forwarder, or transport company the legal power to act on your behalf before the Spanish Tax Agency (Agencia Tributaria). Without this signed mandate, your vehicle will remain legally stuck in customs, unable to receive its Spanish registration plates.
Instructions on how and where to submit it in Mota Del Cuervo
While the actual physical clearance of the vehicle usually takes place at a designated maritime or land customs office (aduana) at the point of entry into Spain (such as Valencia, Alicante, or Madrid), you and your representative in Mota Del Cuervo can handle the administrative setup digitally or via local offices:
- Digital Submission (Recommended): Both you and your customs agent can submit the signed authorization via the Sede Electrónica de la Agencia Tributaria using a valid Spanish Digital Certificate (Certificado Digital) or Cl@ve system. This is the fastest route to expedite your import tax settlements (IVA and Aranceles).
- Local Assistance in Mota Del Cuervo: If you need help preparing or notarizing the document locally, you can visit the nearest collaborating gestoría or administrative office. For official tax inquiries, the closest Delegación de la Agencia Tributaria (AEAT) in the province of Cuenca provides guidance, though most vehicle import procedures are managed telematically or through specialized customs brokers.

Additional documentation required
To successfully process your car import alongside this authorization template, your customs broker in Mota Del Cuervo will require a complete dossier of supporting documents. Make sure you have ready:
- Proof of Ownership: Original bill of sale (factura de compraventa) or official invoice, showing the purchase price and transaction date.
- Vehicle Title and Registration: Original foreign registration documents and deregistration certificate from the country of origin.
- Identification: A clear copy of your DNI, NIE, or valid passport. If registering as a resident in Mota Del Cuervo, your updated Certificado de Empadronamiento may also be required if applying for tax exemptions (such as change of residence transfer of property).
- Technical Specifications: The vehicle's Certificate of Conformity (COC) or technical sheet, which will later be necessary for the Spanish ITV (Technical Vehicle Inspection).
- Bill of Lading / Transport Docs: Shipping documents, bill of lading, or CMR transport receipt proving how and when the car entered Spanish territory.
Expert Tip: Always double-check whether your import qualifies for VAT (IVA) exemptions under a "Traslado de Residencia" (change of residency) if you are moving to Mota Del Cuervo from outside the EU. Doing so can save you thousands of euros, but strict deadlines apply—usually, you must initiate the import process within 12 months of transferring your legal residency to Spain. Always work with an experienced customs agent to avoid costly storage fees at the port of entry.
