How to Import a Car to Eskoriatza: Download Your Customs Authorization Template

Importing a vehicle into Spain from outside the EU involves complex bureaucratic steps, the most critical of which is the customs clearance process. To clear your vehicle through customs, you must appoint a customs agent or representative to act on your behalf. This authorization template is the official document required to grant that legal representation, ensuring your vehicle can be processed at the port or border and eventually registered in Eskoriatza.

Instructions on how and where to submit it in Eskoriatza

In Spain, customs clearance is a national process handled by the Agencia Tributaria (AEAT). While you are based in Eskoriatza, you do not submit this document at the local Town Hall; instead, it is submitted electronically or physically to the customs office handling your vehicle's entry point (usually the port or airport where the car arrived).

Additional documentation required

To successfully clear your vehicle, the customs agent will need more than just this authorization. Ensure you have the following documents ready:

Expert Tip: Before initiating the import, verify if your vehicle meets Euro 6 emissions standards. Importing an older, high-polluting vehicle can lead to astronomical registration taxes (Impuesto de Matriculación) in Spain. Always consult with a local gestor in the Eskoriatza or Bergara area to estimate the final cost, as customs duties and VAT are calculated on the "CIF value" (cost, insurance, and freight) of the vehicle. Do not drive the car on Spanish roads until the customs process is complete and temporary plates are obtained.
