How to Request a European Certificate of Conformity (COC) in Sesmonde: Downloadable Template

If you have imported a vehicle into Spain or are looking to register a foreign-market vehicle in the municipality of Sesmonde, you will almost certainly be required to provide a European Certificate of Conformity (COC). This document is the manufacturer's declaration that your vehicle meets the technical standards required by the European Union. Without it, the DGT (Dirección General de Tráfico) and the ITV (Inspección Técnica de Vehículos) stations will not process your registration. This guide provides a practical template to request this document from the manufacturer's representative in Spain.

Instructions on how and where to submit it in Sesmonde

The Certificate of Conformity is not issued by the local Sesmonde town hall, but by the vehicle manufacturer or their official brand importer in Spain. Once you have filled out the template below, follow these steps:

Additional documentation required

To ensure your request is processed without delays, you must attach the following documents to your application:

Expert Tip: Always double-check that the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on your request matches exactly what is stamped on the chassis of the car. Even a single digit error will lead to the rejection of your application. If your vehicle is very old (pre-1996), a COC may not exist; in that case, you will need to request a "Ficha Reducida" from an industrial engineer, which is a different process entirely. Always keep the original COC document safe, as you will need to hand it over to the ITV station during your inspection.
