How to Request a Certificate of Conformity (COC) in Caspe: Downloadable Template

If you have recently imported a vehicle to Spain or need to register a foreign car in the municipality of Caspe, you will inevitably encounter the requirement for a Certificate of Conformity (COC). A COC is an official document issued by the vehicle manufacturer that certifies the vehicle complies with European Union type-approval standards. Without this document, the Spanish Traffic Authority (DGT) and the ITV (Technical Inspection of Vehicles) station will not be able to process your vehicle's registration or roadworthiness test. This article provides a ready-to-use template to help you request this document from the manufacturer or their authorized representative.

Instructions on how and where to submit it in Caspe

The Certificate of Conformity is not issued by the local Caspe Town Hall (Ayuntamiento), but rather by the vehicle manufacturer. However, once you receive the document, your administrative journey continues locally:

Additional documentation required

When submitting your request to the manufacturer, ensure you have digital or physical copies of the following items, as they are strictly required for the verification of your vehicle's history:

Expert Tip: Always check if your vehicle's technical data is already registered in the Spanish "FIVA" database. Sometimes, if the car model was sold in Spain previously, the ITV station in Caspe may be able to perform a "Ficha Reducida" (a simplified technical report) which is significantly cheaper and faster than requesting an original COC from the manufacturer abroad. Always consult with the ITV Caspe station staff before paying for a manufacturer's COC to see if they can process your registration with a Ficha Reducida instead.
