How to Request a European Certificate of Conformity (COC) in Alcudia: Free Template Download

If you have recently imported a vehicle to Spain or are looking to register a foreign car in Alcudia, you will inevitably encounter the requirement for a "Certificado de Conformidad" (COC). This document is the manufacturer's declaration that your vehicle meets the technical standards set by the European Union. Without it, the Spanish ITV (Technical Inspection of Vehicles) and the DGT (Dirección General de Tráfico) will not allow you to register your vehicle. This guide provides a practical template to help you request this document from the manufacturer or their official representative.

Instructions on how and where to submit it in Alcudia

The Certificate of Conformity is not issued by the Spanish town hall (Ayuntamiento de Alcudia) or the local DGT office directly; it is a document issued by the vehicle manufacturer. However, you must present the resulting certificate to the local authorities to complete your registration process.

Additional documentation required

When you submit your application to the manufacturer, they will almost always require the following documents to process your request:

Expert Tip: Be aware that manufacturers often charge a fee for issuing a duplicate COC, which can range from 100€ to 300€. Ensure you are contacting the official manufacturer branch in Spain, as third-party websites often charge significant "administrative markups" for the exact same service. If your vehicle is very old (pre-1996), a COC may not exist; in that case, you will need to request a "Ficha Reducida" from an engineer instead, which is a different legal process.
