How to Notify the Local Council of a Vehicle Sale in Hoznayo: Downloadable Template

When you sell a vehicle in Spain, it is not enough to simply sign the purchase contract and notify the DGT (Dirección General de Tráfico). To stop the accrual of the "Impuesto sobre Vehículos de Tracción Mecánica" (IVTM)—commonly known as the road tax—you must formally notify your local Town Hall (Ayuntamiento). This template will help you officially inform the Hoznayo authorities (Entorno de Entrambasaguas) that you are no longer the owner, preventing future tax demands for a vehicle you no longer possess.

Instructions on how and where to submit it in Hoznayo

Since Hoznayo is a locality within the municipality of Entrambasaguas, you must direct your documentation to the Entrambasaguas Town Hall. You have two primary ways to submit this notification:

Ensure you submit this as soon as the transfer at the DGT is finalized to avoid the next tax period being charged to your name.

Expert Tip: Never rely on the buyer to notify the Town Hall. Even if the buyer promises to handle the paperwork, the tax liability remains with the person who appears as the owner on January 1st of each year. Always take the initiative to submit this notification yourself to ensure you are legally protected against future tax claims or potential fines associated with the vehicle.
