If you have recently sold your vehicle in Spain, it is not enough to simply notify the DGT (Traffic Department). You are legally required to inform the local City Council (Ayuntamiento) where the vehicle is registered to ensure you are no longer liable for the annual Road Tax, known as the Impuesto sobre Vehículos de Tracción Mecánica (IVTM). Instructions on how and where to submit it in Camargo

To ensure your request is processed correctly by the Camargo City Council, you have two primary options for submission:

• In-person: You can visit the Oficina de Atención al Ciudadano (OAC) located at the Camargo Town Hall. Ensure you bring your ID (DNI/NIE) and the original documentation for verification. It is highly recommended to book an appointment (cita previa) beforehand.

To successfully process your notification, the City Council will require you to attach the following documents to the template provided above:

• Copy of the Sales Contract (Contrato de Compraventa): Clearly showing the date and the details of both the buyer and the seller.
• Permiso de Circulación: A copy of the new vehicle registration document showing the buyer's details, or the official notification of transfer issued by the DGT.
• Copy of your DNI/NIE: Proof of identity of the seller.
• Proof of Payment (if applicable): Any evidence of the transaction, such as a bank transfer receipt.

Expert Tip: Never rely on the buyer to handle the paperwork. Even if the buyer promises to transfer the vehicle into their name, as the seller, you remain responsible for the IVTM until the local administration receives official notice of the sale. Always keep a stamped copy of your submission (the instancia de entrada) as proof that you have fulfilled your tax obligations to the Camargo Town Hall.
