Download Free Private Car Sale Contract Template for Alovera (Word/PDF)
Buying or selling a used car privately in Spain can be a straightforward process if you have the right paperwork in order. A Private Car Sale Contract (known in Spanish as a Contrato de Compraventa de Vehículo entre Particulares) is a legally binding agreement between the buyer and the seller. It establishes the final sale price, the exact condition of the vehicle, the mileage, and the precise time of the transaction—which is crucial for avoiding any traffic fines (multas) or tolls incurred after the handover. Since Spanish traffic and tax authorities require specific clauses for validity, using a localized, legally sound template is essential for residents of Alovera and the wider province of Guadalajara.
Instructions on how and where to submit it in Alovera
Once both parties have signed the contract, the administrative process begins. As a buyer or seller living in Alovera, you do not need to submit the private contract directly to the local Ayuntamiento, but you must complete the ownership transfer (cambio de titularidad) through official state channels:
- DGT (Dirección General de Tráfico): The ownership transfer must be registered at the DGT within 30 days of the sale. You can do this online via the DGT electronic headquarters (sede electrónica) using a digital certificate, or by booking an appointment at the nearest Provincial Traffic Headquarters (Jefatura Provincial de Tráfico in Guadalajara).
- ITP (Impuesto de Transmisiones Patrimoniales): Before going to the DGT, the buyer must pay the second-hand vehicle transfer tax. In Castilla-La Mancha, this is done using Modelo 620 or Modelo 600 through the regional tax agency (Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha).
- Ayuntamiento de Alovera: While the transfer is handled at the provincial and national levels, the new owner should ensure their municipal vehicle tax (Impuesto sobre Vehículos de Tracción Mecánica - IVTM) is updated for future payments in Alovera.

As an expert tip for residents in Alovera, always include the exact hour and minute of the sale on the contract. In Spain, traffic cameras and speed radars can issue automated fines instantly; proving the exact minute the keys changed hands will protect the seller from liability if the buyer commits an infraction on their drive home from Alovera. Furthermore, make sure the buyer provides you with a copy of the new Permiso de Circulación within the 30-day legal window to confirm the transfer was properly finalized at the DGT.
